Requirements

What your site needs before installing Real Testimonials — most up-to-date WordPress sites already qualify.

Real Testimonials runs on any standard, up-to-date WordPress site. For the best experience — especially with the Gutenberg block library — keep the following in mind.

Minimum requirements

RequirementVersion
WordPress5.9 or higher — 6.3+ recommended for the smoothest experience in the block editor
PHP7.4 or higher (recommended) — PHP is the programming language WordPress runs on; your host sets the version
Block editorGutenberg (bundled with WordPress)

On an older WordPress?

The plugin still works through the classic Views (shortcode builder) and page-builder widgets even where the block editor isn't available — but for the Gutenberg blocks, keep WordPress current.

  • A modern browser (latest Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge) for the block editor and dashboard. If you let visitors record a video from their webcam, that relies on a recording feature every current browser already has.
  • HTTPS — needed only if you let visitors record a video with their webcam in the submission form. Browsers block camera access on non-secure (http://) pages, so recording won't start without it. Collecting a video by pasting a link (YouTube, Vimeo or a direct file) works fine without HTTPS.
  • Nothing extra to set up for speed — the plugin quietly remembers testimonial lists, outside reviews and styling behind the scenes so your pages load fast.

Server notes

Your host must let your site connect out to other servers for a few features:

Theme & page builder compatibility

Real Testimonials works with any well-built WordPress theme. Blocks bring their own styling, so they look the same from one theme to the next while still borrowing your theme's fonts where it makes sense.

Prefer a page builder over the block editor? Real Testimonials plugs into the six major ones — Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Bricks and Oxygen — so you can drop a testimonial widget straight into your builder. Each integration switches on by itself when that builder is active; there's nothing to configure.
